History of Numerolgy

Numerology has been around for thousands of years. It is an ancient tradition that was studied in Egypt, Rome, Greece and China. The knowledge was kept secret and only passed onto a few who were initiated. The information was considered very powerful and sacred.

Pythagoras, the Greek philosopher and mathematician, contributed a great deal to the understanding of numerology. He was born in the 6th Centuary B.C on the island of Samos. Early on in life, Pythagoras was influenced by 3 great philosophers, PHEREKYDES, THALES and ANAXIMANDER, who all had a passion for mathematics, geometry, cosmology and astronomy.

Pythagoras went on to study in Egypt, Babylon and Greece. In about 518 B.C., Pythagoras went to southern Italy and founded a philosophical and religious school in Croton (now Crotone, situated on the eastern heel of Southern Italy).

As students entered the school, they were sworn to secrecy, and were not allowed to write anything down.

PYTHAGORAS CALLED HIS SYSTEM OF TEACHING “PHILOSOPHY”

WHICH HE DEFINED AS “THE LOVE OF TRUTH AND WISDOM.”
